EUROPAS GRÖSSTE GNU/LINUX MESSE UND KONFERENZ KONFERENZ-DVD 2004
KNOPPIX ist eine komplett von DVD lauffähige Zusammenstellung von
GNU/Linux-Software mit automatischer Hardwareerkennung und Unterstützung
für viele Grafikkarten, Soundkarten, SCSI-Geräte und sonstige
Peripherie. KNOPPIX kann als Linux-Demo, Schulungs-DVD, Rescue-System
oder als Plattform für kommerzielle Software-Produktdemos angepasst und
eingesetzt werden. Es ist keinerlei Installation auf Festplatte
notwendig. Auf der DVD können durch transparente Dekompression bis zu 4
Gigabyte an lauffähiger Software installiert sein (etwa 5 GB auf
dieser DVD-Rom).
The LinuxTag has called for the OpenMusic Project a few months ago. Goal of the project was to show that successful methods and technologies of the Free Software world can be applied to other goods such as intellectual property.
For LinuxTag 2001, the LinuxTag offered first results of this project on an OpenMusic sampler CD. Along with other songs, the CD contains the official LinuxTag 2001 song "Open Source" by the highly anticipated rock combo Magic Mushrooms.

Beneath a Steel Sky und Flight of the Amazon Queen
Unter Linux (und vielen anderen Betriebssystemen) lassen sich mit Hilfe des ScummVM-Interpreters diverse Grafikadventures u.a. aus dem Hause Lucasarts spielen.

Netinst is short for network install. It is a Debian CD with a bare
installer. The base OS and any additional packages you choose to install
are downloaded from a Debian mirror. To save time and bandwidth. The
normal Debian install procedure involves downloading one (or more) full
(650mb) CD image(s), which you then use to install one or more Debian
systems. Those CDs probably have software on them that you won't use -
with netinst, you only download the base install CD (around 30mb). The
installer then downloads the base packages and any others you want -
none that you don't.

The Ogg Vorbis specification is in the public domain. It is completely free for commercial or noncommercial use. That means that commercial developers may independently write Ogg Vorbis software which is compatible with the specification for no charge and without restrictions of any kind. However, the software packages we have developed are available under various free/open-source software licenses with varying allowances and restrictions.

Softwareverteilung setzt sich zum Ziel, Software auf vielen Rechnern in
einem Netzwerk zu installieren und zu administrieren. m23 kann Clients
partitionieren, formatieren und das Basisbetriebssystem installieren.
Dabei werden die Komponenten im Client per Hardwareerkennung
identifiziert und die Treiber installiert. Nachträglich können weitere
Softwarepakete vom Webbrowser über Spiele bis zum Office-Paket
installiert werden. Sicherheitsupdates können ebenfalls einfach auf
allen Clients installiert werden.
Alle Installtions-, Administrations und Updatejobs werden von zentraler
Stelle, dem m23-Server, vorgenommen.
